Pharmacy Technician
Program Overview:
The Professional Pharmacy Technician Program is a 75-105 hour course designed to teach you the fundamentals of being a pharmacy technician. The class introduces you to various pharmacy practice settings and covers drug classes, basic physiology, drug interactions and daily pharmacy operations. This program is geared toward a variety of students, including those interested in becoming a pharmacy technician, pre-pharmacy students, or those with a healthcare background looking to strengthen their current skills. *Tuition includes all books and materials. ** Please note that the Community College of Rhode Island requires completion of a more in-depth program, which includes the Online Calculations course and the Prescription Insurance module to be in compliance with the Rhode Island Board of Pharmacy- Tech Level II Requirements. These courses must be taken in their entirety to gain licensure in RI.
Course Pre-requisites:
This course requires that you have at least a high school diploma or equivalent. No prior drug convictions of any kind. It is highly recommended that you possess at least 10th grade math level skills and is required that you have fluency in the English language.
National Certification:
National Certification: The Professional Pharmacy Technician Program prepares you to take either of the two national certification exams. The exams include the ExCPT exam at www.nationaltechexam.org offered by the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians and PTCB exam at www.ptcb.org offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

Prescription Insurance Specialist
Program Overview:
This 50 hour course is designed for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy technician trainees who wish to become more comfortable processing 3rd party prescriptions. The goal of this course is to prepare you to excel in insurance billing and to increase efficiency in the workplace. *All books and materials are included in tuition.
Course Pre-requisites:
This course requires students to be enrolled in or recent graduates of the Professional Pharmacy Technician program, or to be current pharmacy technicians.

Program Overview:
Program Overview: The Pharmacy Calculations course is a 30 hour online course designed for current students or recent graduates of our Professional Pharmacy Technician Program. It is designed to serve as supplemental learning and preparation for those that need or want extra practice in the area of pharmacy calculations.
Course Pre-requisites:
Must be a currently enrolled student or recent graduate of MRxI's Professional Pharmacy Technician Program.

Laser Hair Technician
Program Overview:
This program is a continuing education course oriented toward Family Practice Physicians, Dermatologists, Medical Professionals, Nurses, Aesthetic Technicians and Aesthetic and Medical Spa businesses who wish to enhance their office practice with cosmetic laser procedures, as well as people interested in the Laser Hair Removal field.
Laser Hair Technicians work in medical spas, dermatologist offices, plastic surgery offices, or any skin care facility utilizing lasers for hair removal and to treat aesthetic conditions such as Veins, Age Spots, Rosacea and more. The laser hair removal and skin correction market is projected to grow rapidly over the next 5 years. If you are a nurse, nursing student, aesthetician or aesthetician student this is a great way to enhance your skills and marketability, stay competitive and earn more money. *All books, materials and clinical fees are included in the price of tuition.

The marketplace for such procedures we feel may end up being as big or bigger then laser hair removal. Botox sold over one billion dollars of injections last year. Sole purpose was wrinkle
reduction. Many people are scared of Botox, not being sure of its long term effects, not liking receiving a shot, and the concern of Botox coming from botulisms which some deem a poison. There is a number of different skin tightening and wrinkle reduction procedures coming onto the marketplace and we anticipate this will be one of the hottest new technologies and procedures out there within 24 months.

Phlebotomy Course
Program Overview:
This course prepares students for entry level competencies as phlebotomists in hospitals, clinics, blood banks and other healthcare settings. Students will develop skills in performing phlebotomy procedures during on-campus training followed by externships. Our graduates will be trained to collect, transport, handle and process blood and other specimens for laboratory analysis using venipuncture and micro collection techniques. In addition, our students will be able to identify and select equipment, supplies and additives used in blood collection and understand factors that affect specimen collection procedures and test results. A career as a phlebotomist offers flexible hours, nice working conditions and a chance to perform an integral, respected job in the health care profession with minimal post-secondary education required. In addition, a certificate in Phlebotomy can serve as a stepping stone to other health professions involving clinical, administrative and patient care. In general, phlebotomists work directly with patients—from newborns to the elderly. The program consists of 135 hours (60 didactic hours; 35 classroom lab hours; 40 externship hours) Students will be prepared to take the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) national exam issued by NHA.

Program Overview:
This 75 contact- hour course is designed as advanced education for current pharmacy technicians and pharmacy technician trainees. It is designed to teach you the core competencies necessary to safely prepare and deliver sterile commercial and compounded pharmaceuticals. The course meets or exceeds guidelines and standards required by the United States Pharmacopeial Forum General Chapter <797> (Pharmaceutical Compounding- Sterile Preparations). *All books, materials and lab fees are included in the cost of tuition.
Course Pre-Requisites:
This course requires that you have at least a high school diploma or equivalent. No prior drug convictions of any kind. Students Students must possess a 10th grade math level and comprehension. It is recommended that you take this course after taking our Professional Pharmacy Technician Course or after practicing as a pharmacy technician in a retail or PBM setting.

Program Overview:
With pet ownership on the rise, the need for skilled Veterinary Assistants are in great demand. Working with veterinarians and veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants help to provide medical care to sick and injured animals.
